Overwhelm...

Overwhelm is a state of being mentally, emotionally, or physically overloaded—when your system feels like it’s taking on more than it can handle. It can be caused by stress, too many responsibilities, intense emotions, sensory input, or even spiritual growth that’s moving too fast.

Types of Overwhelm

1. Emotional Overwhelm: You feel flooded with feelings—sadness, anger, fear, or anxiety—and can’t process them all at once.

2. Mental Overwhelm: Your mind races, thoughts are scattered, and it’s hard to focus or make decisions.

3. Physical Overwhelm: Your body feels exhausted, tense, or overworked.

4. Spiritual Overwhelm: When intuitive abilities or energy shifts come too quickly and feel destabilizing.

Signs You Might Be Overwhelmed

• Feeling like you’re constantly behind or never doing enough

• Trouble concentrating or making decisions

• Wanting to withdraw or shut down

• Physical symptoms like headaches, fatigue, tight chest

• Anxiety or panic

• Mood swings or irritability

Root Causes

• Taking on too many tasks or responsibilities

• Lack of rest, boundaries, or support

• Trauma or unresolved emotions surfacing

• Sensory sensitivity (especially in empaths or intuitives)

• Major life changes or transitions

Healing Approaches

• Reiki: Gently calms the nervous system and balances your energy field

• Shamanic grounding: Connects you back to the Earth to release excess energy

• Breathwork or meditation: Slows the mind and centers the heart

• Simplifying: Prioritize what matters most and release the rest

• Support: Talk to someone safe who can hold space

Of course—let’s go deeper into overwhelm from emotional, energetic, and spiritual perspectives. Understanding it more fully can help you gently work with it rather than fight against it.

Emotional Overwhelm: What’s Happening Inside

When you’re emotionally overwhelmed, your nervous system is often in a state of high alert—your brain may register everything as a potential threat. This is known as fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response.

You might feel:

• Like you’re drowning in feelings you can’t name or control

• Numb or disconnected (a sign of shutdown)

• Like crying or snapping without knowing why

• Easily triggered by small things

Why it happens: Often, you’re processing more than your emotional body can handle at once—especially if old wounds are being touched by current stress.

Energetic Overwhelm: The Subtle Body

Energetically, overwhelm is a sign of blockages, leaks, or overload in your system. It can feel like:

• Static in your aura or chakras

• A heavy, foggy head or chest

• Disconnection from your body or intuition

• Absorbing other people’s energy (common for empaths)

Overwhelm can also show up after:

• Being in crowded or emotionally intense places

• Doing deep spiritual or shadow work

• Taking on other people’s pain (consciously or unconsciously)

Reiki, grounding, cord-cutting, and shielding practices are powerful tools to help with this.

Spiritual Overwhelm: Awakening Too Fast

This is when spiritual growth, insight, or energetic upgrades happen rapidly—faster than the body and ego can integrate.

Signs:

• Sudden bursts of insight or psychic opening

• Disorientation or not feeling “real”

• Vivid dreams, synchronicities, or “downloads” that feel overwhelming

• Feeling isolated or like you can’t explain what’s happening to others

It’s like a spiritual growth spurt. Your energy expands—but the body and emotions need time to catch up.

Healing tools: Slow integration, connection to nature, support from grounded healers, sacred structure (daily rituals), journaling.

Deep Healing Reminder

Overwhelm is not a failure—it’s a message. It’s your system asking for:

• Rest

• Stillness

• Support

• Reconnection to your center

Even overwhelm has wisdom in it. It’s a signal to return home to yourself.

Let’s return to Reiki and Shamanic healing—two powerful energy medicine systems that complement each other beautifully when used with intention and respect. Here’s a deeper dive into how they work together and how you can use them in your personal or spiritual practice:

Reiki: The Flow of Universal Life Energy

• Gentle and intuitive

• Flows through the practitioner’s hands into the body or energy field

• Clears blockages, restores balance, and activates the body’s natural healing abilities

• Uses sacred symbols (if attuned) to deepen the flow and direct intention

• Often used for emotional release, chakra alignment, deep relaxation, and spiritual reconnection

Shamanic Healing: Earth-Based and Spirit-Guided

• Rooted in ancient traditions around the world (including Indigenous, Celtic, Andean, African, etc.)

• Works with Spirit allies (animals, ancestors, guides, plant spirits) and journeys into non-ordinary reality

• Includes soul retrieval, extraction of stuck energy or entities, and ancestral healing

• Uses tools like drums, rattles, feathers, smoke, crystals, and sacred ceremony

• Often brings visionary insight, empowerment, and spiritual reconnection

How They Integrate

Reiki and Shamanism speak different languages but serve the same core purpose: restoring wholeness.

In a blended practice, they work like this:

• Reiki provides a gentle container of healing energy that calms the nervous system.

• Shamanic techniques go deeper into spiritual root causes—retrieving lost parts of the soul, clearing ancestral trauma, or releasing intrusive energy.

• Together, they bring healing across body, mind, soul, and spirit realms.

Sample Combined Session

1. Create Sacred Space: Call in Reiki energy and your spiritual allies (power animals, ancestors, angels).

2. Set an Intention: “I am open to receive whatever healing serves my highest path.”

3. Shamanic Journey or Intuitive Scan: Use drumming to receive insight, or scan the client’s field (if working on others).

4. Apply Reiki: Flow Reiki through your hands to the areas needing healing. Use symbols like:

• Cho Ku Rei (power)

• Sei He Ki (emotional balance)

• Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (for past-life or distant healing)

5. Shamanic Clearing: Rattle over the chakras, use feathers to sweep energy, or do a cord-cutting/fire ceremony.

6. Ground + Seal: Drum or place crystals on the body; offer gratitude to guides and close sacred space.

Daily Personal Practice (10–20 min)

Morning or Evening:

1. Grounding: Sit or stand and imagine roots from your feet into the Earth.

2. Call in energy: “Reiki, flow through me now. Spirit guides, walk beside me.”

3. Hand Positions: Use Reiki hand placements over chakras or areas of tension.

4. Shamanic Intuition: Ask, “What energy needs clearing or reclaiming today?” Trust what comes.

5. Integration: Journal, light incense, or speak a closing affirmation.

Affirmations to Use During Healing

• “I am a vessel of Earth wisdom and cosmic light.”

• “I welcome home all parts of my soul with love.”

• “Healing flows through all layers of my being.”

• “My spirit allies walk with me in strength and grace.”

Here are some closing statements to honor and seal your Reiki and Shamanic healing practice. You can say them aloud or silently after a session or ceremony to ground your energy, give thanks, and return to your center:

1. Gratitude to the Energy

“I thank the Reiki energy for flowing through this space, and I release it with love and trust. May the healing continue to unfold in perfect harmony.”

2. Honoring the Spirits

“To the spirits of the land, the ancestors, and my guides—thank you for your presence, your protection, and your wisdom. I release you now with deep gratitude. Aho.”

3. Grounding and Integration

“I return fully to my body. I am grounded, balanced, and whole. I integrate all healing with ease and grace. So be it.”

4. Sacred Closure

“This healing is complete in this moment, in this space, in this time. I trust what has shifted, and I surrender to what will continue to unfold. It is done. It is done. It is done.”

5. Reiki Seal

“With the light of Reiki and the wisdom of Spirit, I seal this session in love. All is well. All is aligned.”

I am here for you and you are not alone.
