We deserve joy.
Especially now.
And if it doesn't present itself
as in-your-face fanfare,
please find it in the smallest ways,
for it still exists, everywhere~
in glancing moments,
sweet and personal,
in connections
deep and meaningful.
I find joy in the way
the late afternoon sun plays
and glints on gilded leaves,
the smooth,curved rim
of a coffee cup,
satisfyingly
weighty-
the one that fits my hand
and lips
always perfectly.
I find moments of joy
from brief conversations
in doctor's waiting rooms,
and the brave smiles
of those in pain.
In silent smiles,
or something
kind to say,
for don't we all carry pain
in some way?
Joy is absolutely
necessary
the truest type
displayed in empathy,
embedded in the stalwart belief
of our shared humanity~
even in the crunchy purr
of my cat, getting sleepy-
as I stroke her velvety paws.
Joy...found in the awe
and purity
of a child's
wide-eyed curiosity.
Really, joy still is everywhere,
so please, never stop searching,
it is there,
waiting patiently
to be discovered,
held closely to your heart
like buried treasure,
uncovered.
Joy is a living, breathing thing;
heard in every song you sing,
a celebration
in sight, scent, and sensation,
or in a whispered sound-
Joy really is still everywhere...
just waiting
to be found.
